When purchasing a new home or having one custom built especially for you, there are three main areas of concern that you should look for.  The price is probably the first thing that comes to mind; however, don't compromise the quality of your home just to get a low price.  "The bitter taste of poor quality remains long after the sweet taste of a low price is gone."  I believe that the quality of the home is by far the more important issue, and should not be compromised.  You also want to check out the reputation of the builder to make sure that he is the right man for the job, because the relationship that you develop with the builder should be a good one and a lasting one.
